Hope in Collaboration
The Sheila McKechnie Foundation has just published the results of their annual campaigner survey in a new report, Hope in Collaboration: how campaigners are responding in the toughest year yet. Findings show the UK’s campaigning environment has now reached its most challenging point in a decade with:
– 69% of campaigners feeling the UK campaigning environment has deteriorated in the last 12 months.
– 43% feel unsafe when campaigning.
– 1 in 5 are struggling to believe that social change is possible. But despite this, the report shows that campaigners are choosing hope – building collaborations, nurturing community resilience, and using hope as a deliberate tool for social change. Read the full report here

Public Diners – Nourish Scotland
Public diners are state-supported restaurants, serving good meals at prices everyone can afford and part of public infrastructure – designed to make our lives better. Public diners are different from luxury restaurants or community meals. They are everyday eating places that make it possible to eat well without breaking the bank or compromising our health.  It might come as a surprise, but public diners are not a new idea. There were 2,000+ of them in UK at their peak in the 1940s and public diners operate around the world including Poland, Turkey and Mexico.  Nourish Scotland has published a second report on its public diners project, Public Diners: By the public, outlining the consultation process for its planned pilot public diner in Dundee. For more info click here
