West Dunbartonshire Cares
The West Dunbartonshire Cares initiative started in 2020 brought together over 400 local volunteers, from across our communities to support efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. These offers of help and assistance were overwhelming, helping keep over 1000 local residents safe and supported.
While the pandemic was an unprecedented event, other incidents such as periods of extreme weather, show there are times when a strong community response is needed.
West Dunbartonshire Cares is now the local resilience initiative, maintaining a register of local volunteers and organisations willing to help in any emergency situation. Could you join?
Everyone has something to offer. You may be able to offer:
- Transport to someone in an emergency
- Access to a 4-wheel drive vehicle
- First Aid and/or Mental Health First Aid assistance
- Access to a hall or venue that could be used
- Your time to staff a local welfare centre
- To shop for/deliver to vulnerable neighbours.
We will contact everyone on the register on the anniversary of their signing up to review their preferences.
You can sign up here at any time.
We can also offer local organisations help with emergency planning. Interested? Book a surgery appointment here
