Congratulations to the Moments of Freedom members who passed their Food Hygiene Course in February and were presented certificates by Marie McNair MSP at a special International Women’s Day Event in Clydebank High. The women showed off their new skills by cooking lots of amazing dishes for guests to enjoy for lunch, they have also produced a new recipe booklet for people to try at home.
Some of the group were filmed last month by BBC Alba as part of a documentary on the lives of Syrians living across Europe. The women shared stories about the group, their lives as New Scots living in West Dunbartonshire and their hopes for the future. You can watch the Eòrpa episode, Life after Assad on catch up.
The Scottish Government believe that refugees and people seeking asylum should be welcomed and supported to integrate into our communities from day one.
The New Scots refugee integration strategy sets out a vision of a welcoming Scotland where people are able to rebuild their lives from the day they arrive.
The strategy is built on partnership and collaboration, led by the Scottish Government, COSLA and the Scottish Refugee Council, and involves a wide range of partners across the public, private and third sectors.
