Managed Funds

WDCVS acts as grant manager for a small number of funding opportunities, working in collaboration with West Dunbartonshire Council and the Scottish Government.

Community Chest
The Community Chest fund is a small grant scheme, operating from April to December each year. Resources for the scheme are provided by West Dunbartonshire Council, and agreed at the annual budget setting meeting in March.
In 2025/6 the total budget for the fund is £25,000.

Applications are accepted across 3 rounds – Spring, Summer and Autumn or until the funding is exhausted.

Social Transport
The Social Transport fund is also resourced by West Dunbartonshire Council. In 2025/6 the total available budget is £50,000.
The scheme aims to increase access to transport for local community organisations who are disadvantaged due to the protected characteristics of age, disability.  Applicants are assessed using a10 point  framework.

Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund

The Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults (the Fund) was established in October 2021 and to date has distributed around £66 million to community initiatives supporting mental health and wellbeing across Scotland. Across West Dunbartonshire the fund has delivered almost £1 million for organisations, community groups and community projects.
The overarching aim of the Fund is to support grassroots, community based initiatives that promote and develop good mental health and wellbeing and/or mitigate and protect against the impact of distress and mental ill health within the adult population (aged 16 or over).

In February 2025, Scottish Government announced that in Year 5 the fund would be delivered as part of a multiyear programme of delivery, as part of the Scottish Government’s Fairer Funding pilot. The pilot has been set up to provide more certainty and allow for longer-term planning, aiming to improve stability and cost-efficiency for organisations and services.
This means we will aim to dedicated 80% of this year’s allocated funding towards 2 year projects.
