The Carers Parliament 2025 Report
Published by Carers Scotland, this report provides a summary of the key discussions and outcomes from this year’s event, which brought together unpaid carers from across Scotland. A key issue raised was the importance of breaks from caring, consistently identified as a top priority for carers. Following campaigning by the National Carer Organisations, the Care Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 now includes a legislative Right to Breaks. The Scottish Government has launched a consultation on the Right to Breaks and timescales for support plans for unpaid carers, and carers are encouraged to take part. There are also engagement opportunities available, including an event hosted by Shared Care Scotland on 27 March 2026. You can read the consultation here and the full report can be found here.

Invitation to help shape a new project to support families in need
Community Enterprise is inviting third-sector organisations, public agencies and charities across Dunbartonshire to take part in a study exploring the potential for a multibank in Glasgow. The scheme would redirect surplus goods — including clothing, bedding, furniture and toiletries — to families in need across the West of Scotland, helping to reduce waste and support those living in poverty. It seeks feedback on current challenges, experiences in supporting families and views on how a multibank could support existing services. The survey can be accessed here and will be open until Tuesday, March 31.

Scottish Voluntary Sector Workforce Survey
Published by SCVO in mid March, the survey of more than 1300 people, shows a sector facing job fears as a result of the lack of sustainable, multi-year funding for organisations. More than a quarter of voluntary sector workers (27%) felt it was quite or highly likely they would lose their job in the next 12 months, twice the rate reported in the wider workforce (13%). SCVO is calling for the Scottish Government’s own funding principles to align with SCVO’s definition of Fair Funding – developed through significant research and engagement with the voluntary sector. The voluntary sector in Scotland employs just over 136,000 people, meaning that 5% of Scotland’s 2.66million workers are employed in the voluntary sector. Read the full report here.
