
Getting your charity accounts right: A guide for smaller charities
To help smaller charities get their accounts right, OSCR are hosting a free webinar led by their accounting experts. They’ll explain what to include (and what not to include) in your accounts, with clear examples tailored for small charities. Strengthening the Third Sector
Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville has announced plans to co-design a Third Sector Partnership agreement subject to the outcome of the 2026 Scottish Parliament election. Guided by some of the key principles in the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisation’s 2026 manifesto, this will include protecting the sector’s future and independence with fairer funding, a focus on shared goals to improve outcomes for people and communities and providing greater opportunity to contribute to policy and service design. Climate outreach: Research unpacking how Brits think and feel about climate and nature
Climate Outreach carried out large-scale surveys of more than 7,000 people across Britain, including over 1,000 in Scotland, alongside in-depth focus groups to understand how people think and feel about climate and nature. Their findings show that people in Scotland are overwhelmingly nature-loving and strongly support protecting the environment, yet many feel overlooked and anxious about the future. Climate Outreach concludes that these concerns can be eased by clearly highlighting the positive climate action already going on, helping people see that progress is happening and that a better future is possible. Applications open for the Scottish Charity Awards 2026
SCVO is calling for applications for its annual Scottish Charity Awards. Applications are now being accepted for 2026, with SCVO placing particular importance on hearing from groups and people that reflect the diversity of Scotland’s essential voluntary sector. All registered charities, social enterprises, campaigning groups, community interest companies and people who work and volunteer in these spaces are eligible to enter. Read more here
