Scottish Learning Disability Week 8th – 14th September

Scottish Learning Disability Week is a national weeklong celebration of inclusion. From 2025, the week will always be held in the second week of September.

Scottish Learning Disability Week is a time to celebrate people with learning disabilities.

It’s about making Scotland a fairer place, where people with learning disabilities are respected, included, and have equal opportunities in all areas of life.

This week helps people understand the achievements and talents of people with learning disabilities. It also raises awareness about the challenges they face every day.

The Theme for 2025: “I Am Here!”

How will people complete the sentence ‘I am…’?
Quite simply, people will say –

‘I am here!’

This is the message from the planning group members. It is a proclamation, but not with one single emotion behind it. For some, it comes with jazz hands and a cheesy grin.

For others, it’s a howl of frustration as yet again they are talked about instead of talked to, overlooked and under-estimated.

Scottish Learning Disability Week is the chance to meet locally, put on events, socialise, celebrate and, most importantly, listen to what ‘I am here!’ means for people with learning disabilities in 2025.

We hope you will want to help make it the biggest, most impactful week yet.
