WDCVS marks Volunteers’ Week 2023.
2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when we will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.
Volunteer Scotland Chief Executive, Alan Stevenson said “Volunteers are the lifeblood of Scottish communities and what better time to celebrate their very many vital contributions than during Volunteers’ Week. In celebrating volunteers and sharing their stories, we highlight the enormous breadth of volunteering opportunities on offer and demonstrate the many benefits – especially for volunteers. It’s important that this Volunteers’ Week we celebrate AND inspire and in doing so help those new to volunteering to take their next steps. So, here’s to Scotland’s (inspirational) volunteers – thank you and have a great Volunteers’ Week.”
This Volunteers’ Week WDCVS will be hosting 2 Volunteers’ Week Fairs on the 6th June for organisations and voluntary led groups, to inspire new volunteers to find out more about the amazing work they do, and how they too can Get Involved.
